Fold and Stitch Leaf Topper Instructor: Carolyn Reese Let your creative spirit soar with this nature-inspired table topper. Carolyn used 8 different shades of red to create a poinsettia flower topper. She will share with you some additional techniques to make this an even easier fun to make project.
Fabric Requirements: Fold’n Stitch Leaf Topper Pattern 3/8 yard for Front “Border” Fabric – green on pattern 3/8 yard for Back – lighter green on pattern 8 different colors 5” x 7” 8 shades of one color or 8 different colors – Batiks work well. Bosal 495-8 Pre- cut Leaf Shapes OR Bosal 4955 In-R-Form Single Sided Fusible Foam ½ yard package 2/3 yard 17”-wide Paper-back Fusible Web such as Heat’n Bond Lite
Class Supplies: Sewing Machine Before class learn how to make the blind hem stitch, sometimes called appliqué or blanket stitch on your sewing machine Schmetz Microtex Sharp size 80 or 90 needle Contrasting Thread for Appliqué stitching Rotary Cutter and pad A revolving pad for rotary cutting if you have one Iron and ironing pad Good wooden turning tool 10” or 12” rotary ruler Please come to class with your Front “Border” and the Back fabrics cut into eight 6” x 8 ½” rectangles. Do not cut appliqué fabrics or fusible web.
