ACCELERATING SCIENCE TO IMPACT HEALTH — THE AAPS FOUNDATION
T
he American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Foundation impacts global health by addressing vital needs in the pharmaceutical science community. The AAPS Foundation meets these goals by increasing opportunities for current and future generations of pharmaceutical scientists to conduct research, share scientific knowledge, and leverage professional development training.
‘‘
The AAPS Foundation is an important vehicle for the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences. AAPS Foundation support of our research faculty in schools and colleges of pharmacy is more needed today than ever before and I believe that the Foundation’s support will play a vital role in the advancement of our pharmaceutical sciences today and in the future.

D
ue to the changing pharmaceutical sciences paradigm and government cutbacks, there is an immediate need for research funding in critical scientific areas. It is more important, now than ever, that pharmaceutical scientists develop skills that will meet the world’s evolving health challenges; but these needs and personal development gaps cannot be addressed without dynamic and up-to-date initiatives. With your support to the AAPS Foundation, you can provide pivotal funding to impact our three strategic priorities, including support on multiple levels of pharmaceutical research, education, and training. Together, we can strengthen the future success of pharmaceutical scientists worldwide with new programs that fills these critical needs. We encourage you to join us and contribute to the AAPS Foundation.
AAPS FOUNDATION’S FUNDING PRIORITIES RESEARCH - Grants and Fellowships:
TRAINING – The Leadership Institute:
Undergraduate Research Grants support students who are interested in pursuing an advanced graduate degree and career in the pharmaceutical sciences. These grants allow students to conduct a research project under the guidance of their professor in exceptional academic laboratories. Graduate Student Fellowships support students who have been identified as having the potential and academic track record to become leaders in the pharmaceutical sciences. Multi-Year New Investigator Grants support some of our most promising scientists.
Leadership Institute will be designed to ensure that current students and scientists thrive in the biopharmaceutical industry, academia, or government. The programs of the Institute will help fill the gaps in traditional pharmaceutical science education programs. It will be designed to train scientists in skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, networking, regulatory interactions, communication, organization, decisionmaking, and entrepreneurial thinking.
EDUCATION – Teach the Teacher: The AAPS Foundation is supporting a new program called Teach the Teachers that is being developed by a multidisciplinary committee to engage K-12 science and mathematics teachers and students in learning opportunities that heighten awareness and increase interest in the vast array of pharmaceutical research careers. The team will develop teaching modules and resources that incorporate pharmaceutical research to assist educators at all levels to inform and educate thousands of students and their teachers.

IT’S UP TO YOU
‘‘
It is important to assist the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists, but also gratifying to participate by donating to this cause.
Please contribute to the AAPS Foundation. Your support of the AAPS Foundation can help ensure that current and future pharmaceutical scientists are fully prepared to meet the challenges found in the discovery and development of today’s and tomorrow’s modern medicines. Your gift will have a maximum impact because AAPS is committed to the principle that 100% of your tax-deductible contribution will go toward the Foundation’s programs.
