Shadsworth Junior School www.shadsworthjuniorschool.org.uk Newsletter Friday 30th September 2016 School Updates I’m sorry to report that Mrs Smith who teaches 5S is going to be absent for several weeks. Miss Ireland, our Deputy Headteacher, is going to teach the class every morning which will cover their reading, writing and maths lessons. Mr King will teach the class every afternoon 26th February covering their topic, computing and PE Friday lessons. The children will be well supported and their learning and progress will not be affected especially as they already know the children.
Bethany Choir from Tanzania On Tuesday we had a visit from The Bethany Choir from Tanzania. They live in an orphanage which is supported by charitable donations. They were amazing. The singing was beautiful, the real life stories they shared were very moving and yet they were still so happy and enthusiastic it was infectious. Our children welcomed them and enjoyed the time they spent with the choir. There are more photographs to view on our website.

Year 5 children will be leading the assembly this year and their parents are welcome to come along and join us. This year all donations will go to the Foodbank in Blackburn. They are requesting that donations are in the form of cans and packets rather that fresh produce and all food must be within its sell by date. Your donations can come into school from Monday 10th October. I’m looking forward to seeing another wonderful display of your generosity

We still have a few regular offenders letting us down. The school doors open from 8:30am and staff are on duty from this time. We also have a breakfast club from 7:50am if this helps
Able Writers Day Yesterday a few of our year 6 pupils attended Peel Park Primary School and worked with the science fiction author Colin Parsons. The day focussed on developing pupil’s imagination and writing skills.
Bethany Choir The Bethany Choir will be performing in school on Tuesday 27th September at 9am. Parents are welcome to come and join us. It is four years since their last visit so we are very excited that they have returned – they are amazing!
