Support Learning at Home Regardless of the grade level or school your child is in, you can encourage science inquiry at home in ways that are fun for you and your child. Try these ideas after school, on weekends and during the summer:
• Watch historically accurate movies or documentaries on topics covered in the course as a family and discuss the events depicted and their effect on life in the U.S. • Visit sites of historic events in the U.S. as a family in order to better understand those events and their effect on American society. • Research your family tree and the contributions of the cultures of your ancestors to America. • Discuss at the dinner table the ways that a national event in U.S. history may have affected people in Florida.
Every child develops at their own pace. The activities in this guide are recommended age-specific guidelines for growing young minds.
