I hope you enjoy making this block!
This block can be framed, or stitched into a sampler wall hanging by adding sashing and border strips. (Make sure you add 1/2” extra to the block size for seam allowances) You could also place the block onto a wool background fabric, and blanket stitch around the block using pearl cotton. Be Creative! This is your Wooly Block Adventure!
Use a stem stitch, or back stitch to make the detail in the wood panel of the stall. Stitch a running stitch through the horse shoes.
Layer the pieces according to the pattern diagram onto a 9” x 9” black background. Hand Stitch with a single, or double strand of embroidery floss. Thread should either match, or contrast for further embellishment. Once all of the stitching is complete, trim the block to measure 8” x 8”,
We prefer to use the fusible web for the purpose of maintaining the shape while cutting out the appliques. Once the shape is cut, and the paper is removed, the shapes are basted in place with a small bit of Roxanne’s Basting Glue, or they are basted with a large stitch with contrasting thread.
Instructions: Prepare all of the shapes using a lightweight fusible transfer web on the wrong side of the wool fabric. All of the shapes have been reversed for your convenience.
