Rabbit and Cavy Show Rules -Both shows are open to youth 19 years of age and under. Participants do not have to be a 4-H member. -Please fill out a separate entry form for the Wyoming County Show and the Genesee County Show. -Showroom opens at 8:00 AM, health checked by 9:00 AM, judging promptly begins at 10:00 AM. -Carry cages must have trays. -No trays – NO ENTRY! -No dogs please. -Judges will follow the ARBA Standard of Perfection. -Judge’s decision will be final. -The clubs reserve the right to substitute judges at any time. -Clubs reserve the right of the show chairmen and show committees to interpret the rules and all specials. -All rabbit and cavy awards will be handed out at the completion of both shows. -Exhibitors are responsible to get animals to and from show table, if unable to locate animals, the class will be judged without the animals and the entry fee will be forfeited. -All rabbits must have legible permanent ear tattoos. Cavies do not have to have permanent tags. -Animals showing signs of sickness or disease at health check or during the show must be removed from the show room at the discretion of the Show Officials and entry fee will be forfeited. -No breeding animals in the show room. -Only entered participants may sell animals. -All animals entered / shown at the risk of the owner. -Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site. -Pedigree required for best bred by exhibitor, one entry per species per show. -Pet Class will be judged on personality, condition, and relationship between pet and owner and is reserved for animals that are not eligible to compete in the purebred classes. Best Pet will receive a trophy but cannot compete for best of Show (because there are no ARBA standards for pets). Only two pets per person please. -Other educational activities will be held. -The costume class and art show will be judged by volunteers. -NEW THIS YEAR – ART SHOW more information on page 4

HOW TO FILL OUT THE ENTRY FORM Ear Number:

If you have a rabbit, it must have a tattooed ear number, even pet rabbits. Write the number in here. If you have a Cavy without a permanent tag, leave this space black, or else enter the ear tag number here.

Breed:

This is the breed as defined in the ARBA Standard. Standards are available from the ARBA, 4-H offices, and libraries. If your rabbit or cavy does not meet a breed standard, list as a pet.

Variety:

This is usually, but not always, the same as the color. Lops are grouped into broken and solid. Netherland Dwarfs have groups and varieties – be sure to list the variety. Leave blank if you are entering a pet.

Sex:

Rabbits: B (Buck/male) or D (Doe/female) Cavies: B (Boar/male) or S (Sow/female)

Class:

Check the ARBA Standard for the classes of your breed. In general, for rabbits: Breeds with ideal Senior weights under 9 pounds have two classes: Seniors (SR) – 6 months of age or older Juniors (JR) – between 3 and 6 months. Breeds with ideal Senior weights 9 pounds and over have three classes: Seniors (SR) – 8 months and older Intermediates (INT) – between 6 and 8 months. Juniors (JR) – between 3 and 6 months. In general, for cavies: Seniors (SR) are over 32 ounces. Intermediates (INT) are up to 6 months or weigh over 22 ounces, but less than 32 ounces. Juniors (JR) are up to 4 months weighing 12 to 22 ounces.

Bred by Exhibitor:

This is an animal bred and raised by the exhibitor. The exhibitor must have owned the doe. Pedigrees will be required in order to show in “bred by exhibitor”. One entry per rabbit or cavy. An additional $3.00 / $4.00 is charged per show.

Poultry Show Rules The show is open to all youth 19 years of age and under. Participants do not have to be a 4-H member. All animals are entered and shown at the risk of the owner. All Poultry Must Be Tested Pullorum-Typhoid Clean – including any birds for sale. Pullorum tests are valid for 1 year from date of issue (DOI) if done at your residence or 90 days from DOI if done at another location / clinic. Send a copy of the Pullorum certificate with entry. Waterfowl do not need to be Pullorum tested. Large fowl, Bantams, Waterfowl, Guineas and Turkeys accepted. A cock or hen shall constitute a bird over one year of age. Cockerel or pullet shall constitute a bird under one year of age. State on entry blank whether you are showing large fowl or bantams. Entries not marked will be considered large fowl and will be so entered. Please enter poultry on separate sheet from rabbit & cavy entries. Birds showing signs of sickness or disease at health check or during the show will be removed from the show room at the discretion of the Show Officials and entry fee will be forfeited. Please do not put poultry, rabbits & cavies in the same carrying case. Showroom opens at 7:30 AM. Birds must be cooped by 9:00 AM. Judging will start immediately after GAPA. Poultry Show Cages will be set up and assigned by Show Secretary. Water cups will be provided.

The Genesee Agricultural Poultry Association (GAPA) will be holding an Open Poultry Show on the same day and at the same location as our 4-H poultry Show. This show is open to both Adult and Youth Exhibitors. Any youth with birds entered in the 4-H show can enter those birds in their show for no additional charge!
