Learn How to Long Arm Your Own Quilts Long Arm Training—The Basics of Long Arm Quilting October 15, 16, 24, 28 OR 30 from 10 am to 11:30 am November 5, 11, 13, 18 OR 20 from 10 am to 11:30 am October 14 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm November 4 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm December 3, 9, 11 OR 16 from 10 am to 11:30 am December 2 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm If you haven’t taken a turn on our very own Gammill Long Arm, Lucille, now is your chance. Select from one of the dates above. Students can sign up with a friend for a group session (just two students) or a one-on-one private lesson with instructor Cindy Krelle as she shows students how to wind bobbins, thread Lucille and load a quilt. Then she instructs students on various techniques for finishing quilts including free motion, meander and more. Each class is 1 1/2 hours long and a half hour of “play”. Please note: All students must complete Long Arm Training before renting Lucille. Rental fees for Lucille are $30 per hour (for the first and second time you rent/$20 per hour for all rentals thereafter).

Quilting With Pantographs on the Long Arm Scheduled By Appointment (1 1/2 hour class) Once you’ve learned the basics of Long Arm Quilting and have quilted a few quilts, you will want to advance your skills and techniques by learning pantograph quilting. Pantographs are edge to edge, continuous line designs that are “traced” onto your quilt using a laser light. No thought required, just a steady hand! Once you’ve quilted with a pantograph, you’ll be finishing quilt top after quilt top with the look of a professional!
Class Fee: $45 private lessons

Get it done at PSQ! UFO’s—Unfinished Objects Fridays, October 4, 18, November 1, 15, December 6 & 20 from 6 pm to 11 pm Be afraid, be very afraid. Are they lurking in the closet of your sewing room? Are they sneaking out from under your bed? “They” are all of the UnFinished Objects or UFOs that we all seem to have, and they are multiplying. Pre-registration is required (space is limited) and it’s FREE. Just bring a snack to share and enjoy 5 hours of uninterrupted sewing time (you may come and go as you please) with your fellow quilters and end the spread of UFO’s in your home!

Thursdays, October 17, November 21 or December 19 from 6 pm to 9 pm Thursdays, November 14 or December 12 from 2 pm to 5 pm This class assists students who need a little extra help with a project or want to start a new project. You decide what to work on, sew at your own pace, learn with guidance, and build relationships with others who share a passion for quilting.

How Do I Work This Thing??? Sunday, October 6 from 12 pm to 3 pm If you have a new sewing machine, a machine you inherited OR one that has never come out of the box because as much as you wanted it, you just don’t know how to work it, then let Claudia show you all the great things your machine can do! Bobbin winding, threading, cleaning, using all those great stitches and more. This class is HIGHLY recommended for students interested in taking The Basics class. Learn all the things your sewing machine can do!

Rumpled Quilt Skins
Level: Beginner and Up
Saturday, October 5 from 1 pm to 5 pm AND October 26 from 1 pm to 4 pm
Using the Rumpled Quilt Skin Zebra or Giraffe patterns Rachel will share her tips and tricks for construction of these cute handcrafted stuffed animals. These animals are crafted out of pieced fabric and are a fun way to perfect your piecing skills. We should be able to complete most of the animal by the end of the class. This class is perfect for a beginning quilter but not someone new to all sewing. Class Fee: $50 Instructor: Rachel Williams Level: Beginner and Up
Confident Beginners and Up
Knotty Basket Friday, October 11 AND 25 from 12 pm to 3 pm In this two-part class, students will create a beautiful basket for décor, yarn, a gift for the cat! Easily made with woven fabric strips filled with batting and craftex.

4 Patch Posie Thursdays, November 7 AND 14 from 6 pm to 9 pm Transform a focus or novelty fabric into a 4-patch kaleidoscope quilt that will have you looking for other fabrics that you can use to make another 4-patch posie creation. Many different options for setting the blocks will be taught including “on point” with alternate blocks, “straight sets” with sashing and log cabin blocks. So many fun and creative options are open to this quilt.

Bargello Kimono Quilt Thursday, December 5 AND 12 from 6 pm to 9 pm This quilt shows off Asian or Batik fabrics at their best. This striking wall hanging uses simple piecing techniques for an elegant look. Quilting patterns will also be discussed.

Quick Curves Saturday, December 7 from 1 pm to 5 pm Remove the fear of sewing curves with the Quick Curve Ruler. No pinning, no clipping curves and you get to square up the block, too! Many wonderful contemporary quilt designs to choose from to make your quilt!

Techniques
Sundays, October 13, 20, November 3, 10, 17 AND 24 from 12 pm to 4 pm OR Fridays, November 1, 8, 15, 22, December 6 AND 13 from 2 pm to 6 pm Learn the basic techniques of quilting that will give each student a solid foundation to use as a spring board to more complicated projects. Students will make a sampler quilt of 16 different blocks while learning numerous techniques and building a wealth of quilting knowledge. Students who take this class will have learned the skills to tackle just about any quilting technique. The Basics is an excellent opportunity to start at the beginning no matter how long you’ve been quilting. And now there is a weekday option too!

Binding 101 Saturday, November 2 from 1 pm to 4 pm Your top is pieced, the borders added, the quilt is quilted… now what? We will cover the basics of binding in this three-hour class. We will cover how to trim a quilt for binding, how to make straight grain and bias binding and how to attach the binding to the quilt with perfect mitered corners. Extras include that wonderful flange of fabric under the binding that adds so much punch. We are hoping that after this class, binding may be your favorite part of the quilt-making process!

Hand Applique Primer Fridays, November 8 AND 22 from 10 am to 12 pm Take this comprehensive, two-part course to learn everything there is to know about hand appliqué. Instructor Leanne Hurley will walk you through the step by step process to learn needle-turn appliqué. This class will include terrific tips and tricks on how to handle points, inside and outside curves, bias strips and more. Find out what tools work and don’t work and get guidance from a true expert in the technique. This class is the pre-requisite to the New Applique Sampler class which will start in the summer session.

Machine Quilting

Learn how fun, easy and versatile machine quilting can be. Award-winning quilter, Elvira Illig, will teach students hands-on machine quilting techniques including stippling, meandering, background quilting, “in-the-ditch” AND McTavishing. This technique class has an emphasis on Lucy Boston’s Patchwork of the Cross but anyone who wants to learn English Paper Piecing (including hexagons) will benefit. You will learn how to prepare and baste fabrics (with several options offered), stitch and assemble blocks. This is a great handwork project. Perfect for grab and go. Make the quilt with several setting choices. Each month work on the Sampler Quilt.
