CLOSURE OF MELTON RIDGE DRIVE, MORRISVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA
Gentlemen: We are in receipt of a copy of Resolution 2017-034A of the Morrisville Town Council declaring the Town of Morrisville’s intent to consider permanently closing Melton Ridge Drive. I have attached a copy of Resolution No. 03-33, adopted September 22, 2003, approving the preliminary subdivision plat and site plan for Parkway Commons Shopping Center. Your attention is directed to Item 1 and Item 7 of the resolution. The Shopping Center was subsequently developed in accordance with the Town of Morrisville standards and the items specified in the attached resolution.
The construction of Melton Ridge Drive to “public road standards” was completed approximately ten years ago during the initial construction phase at a cost of approximately $77,550. Parkway Commons, LLC, now Hampton Court, LLC, also paid the Town of Morrisville $5,000 towards the cost of a future traffic light at the corner of Melton Ridge Drive and Cary Parkway. The closure of Melton Ridge Drive results in no benefit to Parkway Commons. Any of the right-of-way reverted back to the property owner may ultimately add to the assessed value of the land, resulting in more tax revenue paid to the Wake County and the Town of Morrisville.

We are opposed to the closure of Melton Ridge Drive without some measure of remuneration from the Town, at least in an amount sufficient to cover the initial cost of the construction of the road and the deposit for the stoplight.
