Could you foster a child? Doncaster Council needs more people to foster children in Doncaster. Many types of people from all walks of life have fostered in and around Doncaster, providing a better family life for children and young people who cannot live at home with their own family. All that we ask is that you have a spare bedroom and the time and energy to help a child. If you think you could open up your home and heart and make a positive difference to the life of a child why not think about joining our team of foster carers. For more details, why not come along to one of our information events or get in touch, go to www.doncaster.gov.uk/ fostering or call 0808 129 2600

It has been a very busy term with children and staff settling into a new school and new year groups. All the staff and pupils have worked really hard to ensure that everyone is settled and working well together and I would like to thank them all for their hard work. I hope you all have a happy and relaxing Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Library Opening I would like to thank again the Friends of Hatchell Wood for the new furniture in the library. We had our official opening during reading week and featured in the Doncaster Free Press and will be in the Cantley and Bessacarr Journal.
School Visits We have had some problems with getting enough money from parents to pay for school visits. When we cost the visit we take the total cost and divide it by the number of children in the year group. Any shortfall is made up by school funds. We appreciate in these hard times that it can be difficult but if you are finding it difficult to pay for the visit please come and talk to

Text Service Please make sure we have your most up to date mobile number so that we can send messages especially as we are now into the winter months. Late Gate / Absence We are having a problem with a lot of children arriving at school late. The Education Welfare Officers will be running a ’Late Gate’ on random days to check on children who are late. We are also continuing to send out absence letters to parents of children whose absence falls below 90% (this does include authorised absences).
Concerts pening in school. We will also try to keep all the latest events and urgent messages on the front page as well. Any suggestions and ideas are welcome for further developments.
We have had some wonderful concerts. The children performed admirably and I am sure that like us you were immensely proud of them.
