Why is your partnership so important? We have pledged to our alumni and fans to maintain premier programs. Your ESU Hornets consistently finish in the top third of one of the toughest conferences in the nation, the MIAA. With seven of 15 sports programs competing in NCAA post season play, Emporia State University led all Kansas schools in the final 2010-11 Learfield Sports Director’s Cup standings. It is the seventh straight year ESU has finished in the top 50 nationally out of over 300 NCAA Division II schools. Hornet Athletic Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Support

Methods of Giving

The primary objective of the Hornet Athletic Scholarship Fund is to enhance the educational experience of student-athletes by providing competitive athletic opportunities. Contributions are used to provide financial assistance to ESU student-athletes in the form of athletic scholarships, tuition, room and board, academic counseling, career development, computer support and life skills programming, and more.

Annual Gifts: Gifts may be made in the form of cash, check, credit card, stocks, real estate or in-kind. Emporia State also encourages you to consider a deferred gift to ESU Athletics.

Each year, with the support of Emporia State fans across the nation, we are able to provide financial assistance to over 300 student-athletes. Donors can share the Hornet pride when they provide an opportunity for a student-athlete to succeed in their academic and athletic goals. The benefits of being a donor to the Hornet Athletic Scholarship Fund are many, but the most important is the pride and satisfaction of providing a quality education for a young man or woman who has chosen to represent Emporia State University.

Direct Contributions: Checks are made payable to the ESU Foundation. In the memo line, write “Hornet Athletic Scholarship Fund.” Credit Cards: To put your donation on your Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover, simply include the credit card number and expiration date on your membership card or call the Athletic Development Office at (620) 341-5873. Endowed Scholarship: An excellent way to honor a specific individual is to endow a scholarship. The minimum amount for an endowment is $10,000. Scholarships are awarded from the earned interest income. Online Giving: Go to www.emporia.edu/give. Bequests: A donor can perpetuate support to Emporia State Athletics by making a bequest to the Athletic Department.

Gifts-in-Kind: Contributions of tangible property such as products, services, equipment or merchandise may be credited toward the Hornet Athletic Scholarship Fund based on fair market value. In-kind gifts are accepted as needed and must be pre-approved before acceptance. Matching Gifts: If your company is a participant in a matching gift program, you can receive credit in the Hornet Athletic Scholarship Fund for the total contribution. That could mean doubling or even tripling your gift’s impact and increasing your membership level. Matching gift forms and personal checks should be made out to the Emporia State University Foundation. Tax Information: The ESU Foundation is a non-profit organization that exists to support Emporia State University. The full amount of your gift may be considered a charitable contribution.
