Horrible Homework Tasks 1. You must research the Gothic genre and gather 5 (or more) facts/information about it. Write these down or on the computer. You can use the internet, books or ask people what they know about it. (1 week) 2. Create a piece of artwork to go alongside your story. This could be the setting, a portrait of a character, a collage of gothic elements of your story. The artwork needs to represent a part or the whole of your story – it must have a connection. (2 weeks) 3. Write a short poem about the gothic genre. Be creative – any style of poem (limerick, sonnet, haiku, free verse). It can connect to you story or be completely separate. (1 week) 4. Create a gravestone. You will need to create a gravestone for the book launch. This needs to be life size! Be super creative – use cardboard, papiermâché, paper, recycle objects - anything! It does need to have on the front: your full name, title of your story, date you finished writing and a quotation, your favourite line. (6 weeks) 5. Write a reflective journal about your story. This is to explain your decisions that you made when writing your story. Describe why you chose that certain character or that certain setting. What were your reasons? (1 week) It is very important that each of these homework tasks are completed on time and to the very best of your ability. Each of you will be displaying your work at the end of term – date to be confirmed.
