Trim any excess thread and frayed edges from the fabric with your scissors.
Stretch the elastic to match in length with the fabric.

Tuck the fabric edge back into the elastic.
Pin the fabric and elastic together.

Begin stitching the fabric and elastic together.
Start about one centimeter before the tear begins.

Continue stitching and remove pins when you sew past the part they're holding together.

Stitch until you have passed the end of the tear by about a centimeter.
End the stitch by tying a small knot close to where the thread passes through the fabric.
