Update on progress with developing the one network road classification, and briefing on the future steps in developing performance measures and the impact on RCA’s developing Asset Management Plans and programmes for the 2015/18 NLTP. 11.15am

How will your infrastructure be affected by the Big One?: Braden Austin, Technical Services Manager, PNCC (President of IPWEA NZ) Under the CDEM Act, Councils are required to ensure their business functions to the fullest possible extent during and after an emergency. This paper discusses an infrastructure resilience assessment undertaken by the presenter for Palmerston North. Proposed amendments to the Local Government Act will further strengthen the requirement for councils to undertake and act on such assessments.

Solar Power and Energy Management: John Debney, Health & Safety/Energy Officer, PNCC John will talk about solar electricity as a disruptive technology and how it could be managed in a commercial building application and the new solar panel installation(s) at PNCC.

Followed by a site visit to look at “ Place Making” initiatives in Palmerston North’s CBD

Field Trip: David Murphy, City Planner, Palmerston North City Council Site Visit - immediately following David’s presentation he will take us for a walk down George Street to the Cuba-Taonui-George St intersection. We can look at the parklets and other place-making initiatives in and around George St as we go.
