One of the key things we aim at is developing the young leaders God has placed in our lives. Four times per year the Spurgeon Baptist Association of Churches jointly sponsors the McCoy Gathering.
One of the key things we aim at is developing the young leaders God has placed in our lives. Four times per year the Spurgeon Baptist Association of Churches jointly sponsors the McCoy Gathering.
This quarterly gathering is named for Isaac McCoy, the first missionary who went west into Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. He was also one of the original 293 delegates at the first meeting of the SBC in 1845.

The McCoy gathering is for church planters, pastors, and those with a heart for the joyful command of missions. We meet for the express purposes of worship, to make much of God, to pray for each other, and to deeply examine the heart of a leader. Nothing is said about strategy, goals or objectives at these meetings—there are many other venues for those topics. Our single topic is the heart of the leader. Our single passion is to worship together.
