Enjoy Spring Break and Then Sprint to the Finish

Spring Break starts on Thursday at 2:40! I hope all of our students are able to relax and enjoy their last vacation of the school year. It is great time to spend with family, catch up on sleep, and enjoy the changing seasons. When we head back to school on April 3, we will be ready to sprint to the end of the school year. April is filled with more ISTEP testing (April 11-May 5), spring sports, and prom (April 29). May kicks off with the Top 20 banquet (May 1) and Senior Awards Night (May 4). We will also have Advanced Placement testing (May 1-12) and ECA retests (May 3-19). May also brings the end of the year concerts for band, choir, and orchestra. The student year ends with Final Exams (May 22-24) and Graduation (June 3). This is an exciting time of year for students and parents. Embrace the experience and don’t forget to stop and smell Dr. Brian DIsney the roses. Principal

FFA Creating Leaders

Recently, Mooresville FFA members competed in the District 8 Leadership Development Events. These events allow students to compete in areas that demonstrate leadership development in its members. Members competed to receive FFA Proficiency Awards, this award is an application where students submit the details of their Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) for a chance to compete at the state level. This year FFA members had a very good showing in the events. Abbi Mendenhall, Austin Neitzel, Tiffani Miller, Samantha Trusty, and Lexi Aichinger all placed 2nd in their respective events. Ryann Hartung (Not Pictured) earned 1st place in Vegetable Production and will have the opportunity to submit her application for the state judging!

Color Guard Advances to State

This past weekend Mooresville’s Color Guard team competed against more than 20 other teams for a spot in the Class A State finals. They came out and performed well and were able to earn a spot in the State competition. They were able to compete in State for the first time since their ‘09 season. The team has had a very good showing this season and has been able to achieved both of its goals. They have made it to the finals and have grown closer as a team than ever before. Advancing to the finals has only served to make the team stronger still. “The hardest part of a competition is waiting for scores, but since we’re all so close we are able to have fun and distract each other,” freshman Sara Heavrin said.

A Season of Success

Mooresville High School’s dance team recently concluded its inaugural season and they could not be more proud of what they have accomplished. They worked very hard this season to get their team off to a great start with 15 performances in events around the community and at MHS. Next year they plan on being even better and would like to add more members in their quest to be eligible to compete in the local dance circuit. They will begin getting ready for next season very soon. The team held a call out meeting on March 20 at 6 p.m. in E101 to talk to any potential new members. They will then hold auditions after SpringBreak on April 3,5, and 6 at school. If you have any interest in being a part of the dance team don’t hesitate to ask coach Melissa Holden any questions!
