In an effort to better teach sewing skills and create lasting projects, this year’s 4-H Sewing Camp will offer the following projects to sew: Beginner (1-3rd year, dependent upon sewing experience):  Fleece Winter Hat with Matching Scarf & Mittens  iPad Stand  Bonus Project: Tissue-Pack Cover Junior (3-5th year, dependent upon sewing experience):  Pajama Pants with appliqued matching t-shirt  Tote Bag  Bonus Project: Wash Cloth Slippers Experienced (5+ years, dependent upon sewing experience):  Clothing item or accessory with zipper or buttons  Clothing item or accessory with pleats, darts, or waistband Members interested in sewing a project not on this list must contact Janet at the 4-H Office to make arrangements, [email protected] or 607-334-5841 x12. 2017 4-H Sewing Camp Schedule February 20-24, 2017 9amSign-In & Sew 10:30amSnack & Stretch Break 10:45-12pmSew In addition to making your main project, campers will learn how to measure themselves, to pick the right sized pattern, create smaller sewing projects, and make a project to donate as part of a community service project!

New York Ayrshire Club Calf Scholarship This award is open to youth 8-15 years of age as of January 1, 2017 who has demonstrated the interest and ability to develop an Ayrshire calf to her fullest potential and who will also grow through this project. The award will provide money to the selected youth that can be used to help purchase a Registered Ayrshire calf at a public auction. For more info, visit: www.nyayrshire.com. Applications must be postmarked by January 31, 2017.

4-H Pheasant Rearing Program 4-H Pheasant Rearing Program - Orders Due March March 20th Day-old Ring-necked pheasant chicks will again be available to 4-H'ers and local families for rearing and releasing in Chenango County. This 8-week project is very similar to raising day-old chicks and teaches:  Responsibility  Natural Resource and Wildlife Management  Record-Keeping Those interested in finding out more or to place an order should contact Janet prior to March 20, 2017 at 607-334-5841 x12 or [email protected]. We recommend minimum orders of 25 chicks. Free-will donation of $5 to help cover the costs of printing and mailing the Pheasant Rearing Guide.

4-H Day of Service Chenango County 4-H is sponsoring a Day of Service contest from April 15-30. The rules are simple:  

The community service must be between the dates of April 15-30. The community service must be with a group you have not worked with before.

All Chenango Co. 4-H families and clubs that participate will be invited to an ice cream social and Ross Park Zoomobile Program at the Chenango County Fairgrounds on May 21st!
