Friday, October 28th Arrive to Queen Alia Airport (07:40am for Montreal departures and 2:55pm for New York City departures) where you will be met by a Jordan Tourism Board representative and transferred to your hotel, the Four Seasons Hotel Amman. You will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and visits to some of the capital’s best museums such as the Jordan Museum and the Royal Automobile Museum. Dinner will be at the hotel. Saturday, October 29th After breakfast, your day will begin traveling north to the ancient city of “Jerash, the Crossroads of Civilization”, remarkable for its unbroken chain of human occupation. Here, in the hills of Gilead, you will find remains from Neolithic times, as well as Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Omayyad civilizations. See a live performance of the Roman Army and Chariot Experience (RACE) at the hippodrome (if available) followed by lunch.

Jerash’s Golden Age arrived with Roman rule. You will see one of the most inspiring, imposing and best-preserved Roman cities. You will sense the chariots racing down the thoroughfare between the columns, and you’ll touch the grooves in the road stones as the Chariots of fire raced on! Following lunch, you will head back to Amman for an afternoon of hotel inspections. This evening you will enjoy dinner and wine-tasting at the Zumot Winery headquarters in Amman where you will sample and learn how some of Jordan’s finest organic wine is made. Overnight at the Four Seasons Hotel Amman. Sunday, October 30th After breakfast, you will head towards the wilderness on the eastern banks of the River Jordan known as Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan. According to the Bible, it was here that the profit Elijah ascended to heaven on a chariot of fire, and where John the Baptist came centuries later preaching and baptizing in the spirit of Elijah. Here Jesus came to be baptized by his cousin before beginning his public ministry. The next stop will be Mount Nebo, Where Moses Saw the Holy Land - Sixty years of excavation on the hilltop of Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the Holy Land and is said to be buried, reveals a basilica church with one of the most magnificent mosaic floors in the world. From the platform in front of the church, you will have an inspiring, breath-taking view across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea to the rooftops of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. You will see what Moses saw. Madaba, “The City of Mosaics” – After Mount Nebo, you will transfer to Madaba, famed for its mosaics. First we will have lunch at Haret Jdoudna, in the heart of the city. Following lunch, you will visit the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George that features a vivid sixth-century Byzantine mosaic map showing Jerusalem and other holy sites. After Lunch, you will be transferred to Petra.
Dinner and overnight at your hotel, Mövenpick Resort Petra. Monday, October 31st
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Petra. Spend the morning with Indiana Jones in “The Last Crusade” as he charges through the desert gorge to the Treasury in search of the Holy Grail! Jordan abounds in archeological riches, but few sites in the world can rival the Nabataean city of Petra, carved out of the rose-red rock cliffs!

The Nabataeans were an industrious Arab people who settled the area more than 2,000 years ago. Petra was widely admired for its refined culture, massive architecture and ingenious complex of dams and water channels. It served as a crossroad for trade and commerce. Lawrence travelled to Petra both before and during the war and was captivated by the majestic beauty of the Nabataean temples and tombs carved into the rock. Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Enjoy lunch at the Basin Restaurant followed by an optional hike to the Monastery for those who wish to join. Dinner will be at the Petra Kitchen which is a relaxed, informal atmosphere where you will gather to prepare an evening meal, working alongside local women under the supervision of a local chef and which offers an evening of learning, fun and a very special dining experience, with each dish gaining the special flavor of a reward well-earned. Overnight at your hotel, Mövenpick Resort Petra. Tuesday, November 1st After breakfast you will check-out and depart to Wadi Rum (after inspecting various hotels in the Petra area) where Lawrence of Arabia operated throughout 1917 in this extraordinary desert landscape and from here the strike on Aqaba was launched. It provided David Lean with his most memorable movie locations. “Vast, echoing and God-Like” is the way Lawrence described Wadi Rum, where you will enjoy this largest and most magnificent of Jordan’s desert landscapes. Your experience in Wadi Rum will begin with a sumptuous lunch at the Visitor’s Center. After lunch, venture off the beaten path in a four-wheel-drive vehicle to explore the desert and see up close the “Seven Pillars of Wisdom” about which Lawrence wrote as well as Lawrence’s spring and what’s left of the house in which he resided. After the Wadi Rum tour, you will be transferred to the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea. Wednesday, November 2nd
Enjoy your day at Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Float in the Dead Sea because you cannot sink! The Dead Sea Resort area is home to some of the best spas in the region so take time to enjoy the available treatments and take in the beautiful Dead Sea sunset. A Farewell Dinner will take place at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea. The group will have to pack and get ready to depart to the Airport late night/early morning Thursday. Day of departure! This morning you will be transferred from your hotel to QAIA for your flight. Canadian Travel Agents will depart from Amman, Jordan (QAIA) on Royal Jordanian (RJ 267) at 01:50am with non-stop service to Montreal (YUL). Those flying into the United States depart Amman on Royal Jordanian (RJ 261) for non-stop service to New York City (JFK) at 10:20am. Expected arrival time into YUL is at 07:15 am while the expected arrival time at JFK is 4:30pm.
