My Antique Toy Quilt

Instructor: Sandra Mollon Patterns: Sandra’s Antique Toys. Fabrics: For the background: Light to Medium beige or taupes (or your choice). I used a variety of different prints. I recommend 910 coordinating backgrounds 1/4 yards to 1/2 yards of each. Blocks: Small pieces or fat quarters of a variety of prints or yarn dyed fabrics. See each month’s pattern for more information. Ink: I use Tsukineko All Purpose Ink and Fabrico Markers. I recommend the following colors in the ink or markers. #52 Sand or #152 Sand Marker #54 Chocolate or #154 Chocolate Marker #53 Autumn leaf #181 Cool Grey Marker #80 White If you wish to piece your background in the class, bring your sewing machine. Be sure it is ready to sew with a new size 70 needle and a 1/4 patchwork foot, good quality cotton thread in a medium beige color in both the top and bobbin. If you are unfamiliar with your machine, bring your instruction manual. You will also need a rotary cutter, ruler and mat. If you purchase the pattern before class, it will contain instructions for piecing the background. You can come to class with the

background ready if you already are comfortable with basic patchwork. Applique Supplies: Pencil Freezer Paper (at least 1 yard) Scissors for paper and fabric A small craft or travel iron 1 can of spray sizing A small dish or jar A small stencil brush or other small brush An ironing mat A stiletto A light box if you have one, or use mine in class. Roxanne’s Glue Baste It To sew: By hand—the following items are needed. Silk thread (#100) in a medium beige or color matching your appliqué, or Superior Threads Bobbin Thread in the same color(s). Straw or Milliner’s needles in size 10 or 11. Small scissors to clip thread. By Machine: YLI Wonder Invisible Thread in clear. You will also need a open toe embroidery foot for your machine. General Information Please have all supplies prior to class. All books, patterns, and supplies are available at In Between Stitches. All classes must be paid for when you sign-up. Unless noted you must cancel 5 days prior to the first class to receive a store credit. If we cancel a class you will receive a store credit or refund in the method which you paid. We ask that during a class you turn all cell phones off and limit any perfumes that you may use as some of our students and instructors are very sensitive to perfumes. We are unable to accommodate guests/children during classes. All sales are final on books, patterns, and fabric.
