Exercise 4 – A farmer has a 4 acre farmstead inside his tract. He is about to mow down 10 acres of rye in early June to plan corn for grain immediately after He also has 20 acres used for dry hay (other) and haylage. He has a 10 acre vegetable pea field (including a 1 acre pond) all planted as of time of interview.

Exercise 9 A farmer owns a 200 acre farm and rents 250 non-irrigated cropland acres from others. 50 of the pasture acres he owns were rented to neighboring farm. This means 400 total acres operated. Farmer answers the following section as 250 acres of non-irrigated cropland for $25,000 in 2017 and 50 acres of pasture for $1000. Fill out Cash Rents section based on this exercise information.

Exercise 14 You meet a cattle operation. Respondent understands the definition of a feedlot and has one. He reports 300 cattle and 50 veal calves on feed June 1st. He later clarifies only 150 cattle and the 50 veal calves will be shipped directly to the slaughter market, the others being shipped to another feedlot.

Exercise 16: A farmer owns 100 cropland acres (50 inside tract) and a 1 acre house inside tract.
50 acres of cropland inside tract is worth $2000/ac, excluding buildings, adding up to $100,000 50 acres of cropland outside tract is worth $1000/ac, excluding buildings, adding up to $50,000 Therefore, all 100 cropland are worth $150,000 (averaging $1,500/ac). House is worth $100,000, additional buildings are worth $50,000. Therefore, total farm is worth $300,000 If sold under current market conditions, it would be for agricultural use only.
