November 2016  Dear Administrator:  I  am  serving  as  chairman of the Kansas  Association  of  Chiefs of Police  (KACP) Awards Committee.  In  that  capacity, I am requesting nominations of Kansas law enforcement officers for the 2016 awards. These awards will  honor  activities,  accomplishments  and  performance  of  officers,  and/or  employees,  which  occurred  during  calendar year 2016.  Those selected for these awards will be honored personally at the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police Awards  Banquet  at  its Spring  Conference on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Overland Park.  There  will  be  a  reception  beginning at 6:00 pm, and the Dinner and Awards Presentation Program will commence at 7:00 pm.  Enclosed  is  a  nomination  form.  The  form  must  be  used  for  each  nomination  and  may  be  copied  as  needed.  Nominations must be received by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.    A fillable version of this form is also  available on the KLETC homepage at www.kletc.org.   Serving on the Awards Committee with me are the following:  Chief Mike Baker (Wamego) Retired Chief Jim Daily (Newton) Chief Terry Eberle (Wakeeney PD) Chief Ronnie Grice (Kansas State University PD) Chief Ed Howell (Ft. These awards are for all Kansas officers, i.e. municipal, county, state, federal, etc. and/or other employees of all  law  enforcement  agencies  in  Kansas. Feel  free  to  nominate  modest  administrators  of  other  agencies  who  might  deserve such recognition.  Banquet and award presentation details will be furnished later to all selected award recipients and administrators.  Please  submit  all  nominations  by  5:00  pm  on  Tuesday, February 28, 2017  and  please  follow  exactly  the  instructions on the nomination form itself. Don’t worry about trying to determine the appropriate award category  as our committee will handle that determination.  Thank you.  Sincerely,

A brief synopsis of the events relative to this nomination MUST appear on page one of the nomination form, in the boxed area.



On page two, please describe, in detail, the activity or performance for which the officer or employee is being nominated.



Attach/enclose all applicable documenting reports, news clippings, letters, appropriate agency  reports,  etc.  The  more  information/documentation  you  provide,  the  better chance your nominee will have for recognition.



Please do not staple the nominations forms. (Instead, please paper‐clip them).



Please do not make two‐sided copies of your attachments.

Award Categories  (The Awards Committee will select the appropriate category for those nominations selected for an award.) 

The Bronze Award (Accomplishment)  An award to recognize outstanding achievement above and beyond normal law enforcement  responsibilities and duties. 

The Silver Award (Life‐Saving)  An award for extraordinary action which directly contributed to the significant prolonging or  actual saving of a life. 

The Gold Award (Valor)  An award recognizing uncommon valor in the line of duty. 

The Chief’s Award (Posthumous)  An award recognizing the supreme sacrifice of an officer who died in the line of duty.
