Truth B-P Church Missions Trip to Kampot, Cambodia (24 to 29 May 2013) Reported by Rev Dennis Kwok May 26, 2013 marked the first Graduation Service of True Gospel Bible School in Cambodia. This also means that the Bible School has been in existence for three years. We thank God for sustaining both lecturers and graduands since the beginning. I thank God for the opportunity to witness the graduation of the five students: four graduated with Diploma in Theology and one with Certificate in Theology.
It was a Graduation Service with no gowns, mortar boards or procession. Though a simple Service, everyone was in high spirits. Held in the True Gospel church premises, about 80 attended the Service. Many were standing outside the worship hall. It was a happy occasion for the graduating students as well as for those present.
The Service was chaired by Pr Liv Rotha, Academic Dean of the Bible School. Opening prayer was led by Pr John Saray, one of the lecturers. He rushed from Sihanoukville to Kampot after the Lively Hope worship service ended in the morning. Thank God that he made it on time for the Graduation Service. Pr Sopheak, Principal of the Bible School, was the speaker. He thanked God for the humble beginnings of the Bible School and how God has sustained the School thus far. In my heart, I was filled with thanksgiving for the simple fact that these three preachers who started out together are still serving together although now each has his own church to pastor. Recently, the Lord added two more to the teaching faculty. One is brother Thaven who is now receiving his further theological training in FEBC. The other is sister Leakena, also a FEBC graduate. She serves as an English tutor as well as attending all the lectures of the Bible School as part of her training before her plan to return to further her studies in FEBC. She is an excellent help to both the Bible School and True Gospel BPC. We praise the Lord for the growth of this ministry. During the Graduation Service, there were song presentations by the Bible School students and True Gospel youths. One of the highlights in the Service was the taking of the Dean Burgon Oath to mark the Bible School faculty’s allegiance to the Bible. As I stood with the three preachers including brother Thaven and sister Leakena to take the Oath, it reminded me of Far Eastern Bible College in Singapore
how God has blessed her because of her love and loyalty for God’s Word. After the oath-taking, I preached from 2 Timothy 4:2, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” to encourage the graduands especially. I focused on the three steps to preach the Word: Reprove, Rebuke and Exhort. It is my prayer that they will keep learning and be faithful to preach the Word. One of the graduates, brother Sim Dara who also co-labours with Pr Liv Rotha in True Faith BPC, has been accepted into the Bachelor’s Degree in Theology programme in Far Eastern Bible College; and his student pass has been approved by the Singapore immigration authority. We pray that his studies in FEBC will equip him further for the ministry. Truth BPC is happy to support him in his FEBC studies which will begin in July 2013. Let us extend our hand of fellowship to him as he studies here together with brother Thaven. Though a humble beginning for True Gospel Bible School, we are determined to press on for the extension of God’s kingdom in the proclamation of the true gospel of Jesus Christ to the saving of souls and to the edification of believers in these last days. May God find us faithful till the return of our Saviour and King! Amen.
