Kevin D. Pomfret Partner Tysons, VA P: 703.760.5204 F: 703.748.0244 [email protected] As a thought leader in geospatial technology with almost 30 years of experience, Kevin Pomfret brings valuable insight to companies that both generate and use geospatial technology and data. His service in the U.S. government and knowledge gained in private practice enable him to provide comprehensive advice to businesses and governments on the risks and opportunities associated with the fast-growing area of location-based technology and Big Data. Kevin serves as co-chair of Williams Mullen's Data Protection & Cybersecurity and Unmanned Systems practice groups. He counsels companies in a variety of industries, including Unmanned Systems, mapping companies, sensor manufacturers, satellite providers and cloud and software providers, many of whom are also government contractors. He represents their needs in corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing and private equity transactions. He also assists clients with technology licensing, privacy and policy issues associated with the collection, use, storage and distribution of geoinformation around the world. In addition to his legal representation, Kevin founded and is the Executive Director of the Centre for Spatial Law and Policy. He is on the board of directors of the Open Geospatial Consortium and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Humanitarian UAV Network and the National Geospatial Advisory Committee. In addition to these leadership roles, he is called on to speak around the globe on this growing topic critical to issues of privacy, national security and economic development. Prior to his private legal practice, Kevin served as a satellite imagery analyst for the U.S. government, developed U.S. imagery collection strategy for monitoring of arms control treaties, and served on U.S. Intelligence Community staff responsible for coordinating imagery collection and requirements and developing new systems.

Kevin earned his J.D. from the Washington & Lee University School of Law and his B.A. from Bates College.
