Protecting your farm with
New York Agricultural Land Trust New York Agricultural Land Trust (NYALT) has been working with farm families in central New York since 2006, protecting over 7,300 acres of active farmland. Thirteen farms have been successfully protected using funds from New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ Farmland Protection Implementation Grant (FPIG) program. We anticipate that the State will announce a Request for Proposals to this program in May 2018 (Round 15). If you are interested in working with NYALT on an application to this program, please complete the attached Landowner Information Sheet and return it to the address or e-mail below prior to April 6, 2018. Landowner Information Sheets received after this date will be considered for future funding rounds. The Process: 1. Deadline for submitting completed Landowner Information Sheets to NYALT: April 6, 2018 submit to:
[email protected] or New York Agricultural Land Trust P.O. Box 216 Elbridge, NY 13060 2. NYALT will be limited in the number of applications we can submit to the State. Therefore, the board will review, rank and select projects to complete applications for submission to the State for consideration in this round (early May 2018). 3. If selected for application to the State, landowners will be responsible for a $2,000 fee to cover NYALT’s staff time during the application process. 4. Landowners should plan to work cooperatively with NYALT, their Town and County officials and their County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board to obtain the necessary documentation and letters of support for submission to the FPIG program. **Work on the applications to New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ Farmland Protection Implementation Program will commence after the Request for Proposals has been released. We anticipate that this will occur in May 2018 and applications will be due shortly thereafter.
