Many thanks for your interest and support for this outstanding event in the Eversholt Cricket Club calendar for 2017. The event is once again being organised to raise the profile of cricket in the local area and to raise much needed funds to support the Club and the ongoing development of its facilities. As in previous years, this will be a fantastic opportunity for players, officials and supporters alike to play host to some of the world’s greatest cricketers such as Tino Best, Wasim Jaffer, Inzamam ul-Haq, Courtney Walsh and Tim Paine - who will ever forget the wonderful entertainment provided at previous events from Cephas Zhuwao’s 36-ball hundred to Henry Blofeld’s commentary and James Gage clean-bowling Mohammad Yousuf in recent matches? It is a great experience for young or old and this brochure outlines how you or your
business can get involved in a number of ways to suit all tastes and budgets. Those that have attended in previous years have said that the opportunity to meet, socialise and compete with such highly talented cricketers of international repute and to watch them demonstrate their skills on the local village green has provided lasting memories. I’m delighted to tell you that we are pulling out all of the stops to make 2017 even bigger and better. This will be the sixth visit to Eversholt for the world famous cricketers of the Lashings XI and previous attendees will know that we are in for a sporting treat. The Club continues to invest heavily in the maintenance and improvement of playing and practice facilities and, in the longer term, thought is being given to the enhancement of the Pavilion. Whilst grant support may be available, such avenues are
limited and the majority of funds will have to be raised by the Club. A major investment but one we are keen to make in support of our continued efforts to develop the game at grass roots level and particularly to help with our Junior Section, comprising of players of both sexes from as young as six-yearsold. The proceeds from the Lashings event will make a significant contribution towards this and we are also delighted to be supporting local charities. You can support the event by taking a luncheon table at which you can entertain friends or business guests alongside the Lashings celebrities and even choose to have a Lashings player on your table. There are 25 tables available with 8 places at each (9 places in all if you choose to have a Lashings player on your table), so please respond as quickly as possible to secure your place. We are producing a commemorative match day programme for the day that will also act as entry for the spectators (in 2015 there were over 2,000 spectators!). We are taking the opportunity of having so many cricket legends in one place at one time to organise a coaching session for junior cricketers from all clubs. Eversholt’s ECB qualified coaches will lead the session with support from other coaches within Bedfordshire and the Lashings players. In previous years this session has been attended by over 80 junior cricketers and been a key part of the day.
RAFFLE PRIZES DONATIONS If you or your company are prepared to assist through the provision of a prize for the public raffle, these will be gratefully accepted. Please let us know what you would like to provide and when it will be available. We will ensure that each prize is clearly accredited as to from where and by whom it was donated.
