In the whole wide world there will never be another one of you. The way you think, feel and act makes you different from everyone else. You are unique, which means you are one of a kind! This makes you very special. Luckily for us, no one is the same or thinks the same. Meet Tessa Tessa loves to write stories in her spare time. She often has dreams about traveling in space. Tessa writes with her left hand. Tessa walks to school every day, even when it rains, because her mum doesn’t drive. Tessa wants to be a gymnast when she gets older. She used to live in Australia when she was little. Tessa likes to do handstands and play on the bars at lunchtime. She doesn’t like cucumber but she loves carrots. Pet hair makes Tessa sneeze and itch, so she doesn’t have any pets. Tessa thinks a lizard would make a good pet because it doesn’t have any fur. • What makes Tessa unique? • What do you find interesting about Tessa? • What else would you like to know about Tessa?
CONNECT! Being proud of ourselves 1. Make a page using pictures, words or sentences that shows how unique and special you are. Here are some other things you could think about including: • Your birthday • Your house or bedroom • The clothes you like to wear • What you look like when you smile (missing teeth?) • The people who live with you • Your favourite place • Things that make you feel good 2. Share your work with a classmate • Is there anything on your list that surprised them? • What did you learn about your classmate? 3. Imagine and discuss ... • What if everyone in your class had written and shared exactly the same things? • Could this happen? • Would you want it to happen?
