! Dana is a superintendent for American President Lines, which is a large steamship line (We operate those big container ships. And, if we ever resolve the contract the the longshoremen's union, we might actually unload a few of them...).! ! In his spare time, he portrays James Madison (the "Father of the Constitution") at Independence Hall at Knott's Berry Farm. He also travels to schools and civic groups to give living history talks as James Madison and as a Minuteman.! ! In addition to the book he wrote on aircraft production in WWII ("Building Victory"), he has also written a small book on square-rigged sailing ships, and a number of guest columns for newspapers and magazines on historical and current events topics.

The Order of Daedalians, the National Fraternity of Military Pilots, was organized on 26 March 1934 by a group of World War I commissioned Army pilots to perpetuate the spirit of patriotism, love of country and ideals of self-sacrifice which place service to nation above personal safety or position. Membership is open to pilots (commissioned, warrant officers, USAAF flight officers, and WASPs) of all US armed services and who can be on active duty, retired or have left the service, under honorable conditions, prior to retirement. Help bring a member in the Order, now!

March 21st is our annual Founder’s Day get-‐together and this time we are gathering at the Port’s O’ Call Restaurant in San Pedro in a large private banquet room overlooking part of the San Pedro shipping channel. This is a great meeting place, easy to reach, lots of parking, a bright sunny day of activities planned. Included in our activities is a Century Club recognition and awards event, so all Century Club members please join us and bring a friend. Dana Parker is our speaker and he will share the insights of how America responded to a Call to Action, creating a large aerospace industry situated here in southern California -‐ creativity at its best. In our last Intercom we announced a proposition to increase our Friend of Flight membership from 10% to 15% and ballots were included for membership voting. Approximately 91% of the ballots received were in favor of the proposed Friend of Flight membership increase and the change approved by the Board of Directors on 12 February 2015. Thank you all for considering and voting on this measure. While not unexpected, our luncheon expenses will rise a small amount beginning at our May luncheon meeting. Together with Lt Col Murray, we met with the caterer to assess the basis for the price changes and to explore options to minimize any increases. The caterer was receptive and is considering our suggestions, but conservatively the new luncheon cost increase should be limited to $3.00 -‐ $3.50. As in the past, we will continue to enjoy a truly Dine catered lunch, to include the beverage services previously provided. While a small increase is now eventual, it is attractive since it is far below equivalent restaurant luncheon pricing and additionally, it represents a 30% discount below the pricing that the caterer charges LAAFB for base hosted functions. More to follow. Lt General Kehoe, our Dadaelian National Commander has agreed to meet with us at our May luncheon. For those not familiar with Genera Kehoe’s background, prepare to be astounded. That truly Dine, energetic ofDicer and patriot has been involved in a multitude of impressive endeavors, both in the service and subsequent to that service. Strongly recommend that you all join us for General Kehoe’s luncheon visit and discussions. Another event of importance is that the Navy Blue Angels are returning to PT Mugu NAS for one of their premier airshows on 26 and 27 September. Please mark your event schedules. Finally, still on events of importance, our annual golf outing is scheduled for May 19th at the Las Alamitos course. Please contact Lt Colonel Sam Melvin (310 377-‐3202) to schedule your foursome or to join a foursome.
