Summer Family Fellowships
Jeremiah Kirberg // Pastor of Administration The family is the most basic social structure God established and ordered for the blessing of all His creation. Yet, the family has been under attack since our first parents fell. Right down to our time, the traditional family structure is constantly under pressure to capitulate to the worlds values. On one hand, we have the daily struggle against our own sinful tendencies of self-focus and laziness in our roles as husbands, fathers, wives, mothers, children and siblings. On the other hand we have outward expectations placed upon us by a secular world that is commonly at odds with a family’s best interest. Often, we allow the precious time we have with our families to be repurposed by countless individualized priorities. Our culture tempts us with a smorgasbord of sports, clubs and activities, telling us that we are depriving our children, or ourselves, if we do not take every opportunity. Left unguarded, the culture will reorganize your life and minimize the time that your family can spend together. Add to that our culture’s propensity to line up opportunities that test a family’s commitment to Sunday worship and ministry involvement and you have a formula for disaster. One of the primary ministry goals of NCC is to equip and encourage families. Reaching for that goal has led us to put a premium on church fellowship for the whole family as well as the family of God—the church. We want to push back against the tide of the culture and provide opportunities that are fun and refreshing in the context of church-wide mutual fellowship. To that end we have four Summer Family Fellowships events this summer specifically designed to foster familial relationships and church community. Under this banner we have lined up events intended to encourage and stimulate the bond of fellowship we all should enjoy as members in the family of God. Within each event will be opportunities for everyone to learn from and be encouraged by biblical family relationships at work in a casual context. These fellowships will be a special way for NCC to enjoy the summer as a family. Please be sure to see the summer line-up on the back page and be watching for the opportunities to sign-up! A Neglected Grace: Family Worship in the Christian Home Jason Helopoulos
In the history of the church, family worship has been one of the Christian family's strongest characteristic. In A Neglected Grace, Pastor Jason Helopoulos calls parents and church leaders to reclaim the practice of family worship. This indispensable means of grace directs our children to seek Christ daily, preparing them to go out into the world as fully functioning Christian adults, who love Christ and see all of life in relation to Him.
