Media Release ZFF 72: Switzerland’s Biggest Filmmaking Contest Got what it takes to be a filmmaker? Zurich, September 5, 2016 ZFF 72, Switzerland’s biggest filmmaking contest, enters its third year. Entrants are given 72 hours to make a film lasting no longer than 72 seconds. The winners will walk away with prizes worth more than CHF 10’000, which will be presented during the 12th Zurich Film Festival. Register now at zff72.com to take part. The aim of the ZFF 72 contest is to encourage film enthusiasts around the world to reach new creative heights by making a film within 72 hours. Participants have until 12 noon precisely on Friday, September 23 to register – this is also the time when the theme of this year’s contest will be announced. From then on, participants have exactly 72 hours – until 12 noon precisely on Monday, September 26 – to finish and upload their film clip. A jury of experts will rate all the clips that are approved for entry into the contest. Additionally, the international online community has three days, until September 29 at 12 noon, to rate the clips at zff72.com. Jury Award and Viewers Award Although the entries must adhere to the given theme, entrants are free to choose the genre of their clip; it can be fictional or documentary. Our jury of experts determines the winner of the ‚Jury Award’ (endowed with a CHF 5’000 cash prize); the online voting community determines the winner of the ‚Viewers Award’ (endowed with a CHF 4’000 cash prize). The jury of experts from the film and media industry is made up of Daphna Awadish (animation designer and filmmaker), Maurizius Staerkle Drux (filmmaker and sound designer), Catharina Steiner (film reporter for 20 Minuten) and Martin Zimper (lecturer and head of Zurich University of the Arts’ Cast / Audiovisual Media programme). The winner will be announced on Friday, September 30 during the ZFF 72 Award Ceremony with After Party at Folium Sihlcity.
