Principal’s introduction Kia ora and welcome to our first school newsletter of 2015. A warm welcome to our new students joining our college as well as to our returning students and to the parents, family and whanau who make up our school community. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead. At Mount Maunganui College all of our staff and students work towards our three key school strategic goals: Goal 1

Sports News Beach Volleyball Results Emma Marumaru-Flynn and Kiana Tawa won the U19 Girls Pair and Perry Preston and Kahurangi Robinson were winners of the U19 Boys pair at the annual Beach Volleyball Nationals held on Mount Main beach late last month.

Waterpolo Waterpolo had a series of success stories over the holidays with Bae Fountain, Jack Ellis, Ryan Anderson, and Liam McGovern all made the Tauranga U14A Boys team who won SILVER at the National Division 1 Championships. Bae Fountain, Jack Ellis, Shinae Carrington, Grace Elisara and Ella Pollock were all selected to trial for the NZ U15 teams. James Hunter, Tamarau Kipa, Cameron George, Rueben Ronalds and Liam Fenneman(Yr9) all member’s of the Tauranga U14B team that took GOLD at the National Division 2 Championships. Surfing Mount Maunganui College Surfing revelled in the surf competitions that were held during the holidays with Kea Smith winning the Un16 Girls Competition, Raiha Ensor finishing 2nd and Elin Tawharu coming in at 3rd. In the U18 division Kea Smith also dominated winning this age group, Elin Tawharu finishing 2nd and Raiha Ensor at 3rd. In the Boys competition Kehu Butler proved far too good taking out both the Un16 and the Un18 competitions. In the Un16 grade and following Kehu was Jonus Tawharu 2nd and Lee Ririnui 4th.
