STITCHES USED Stockinette stitch (St st): Knit on RS, purl on WS. Chevron Lace (multiple of 10 sts + 1) – See Charts for beginning and ending points. Row 1 (RS): K1 * [yo, ssk] twice, k1, [k2tog, yo] twice, k1; repeat from * across Row 2: Purl Row 3: K1, *k1, yo, ssk, yo, sk2p, yo, k2tog, yo, k2; repeat from * across. Row 4: Purl. Repeat Rows 1 – 4 for Lace patt. NOTE Fronts are worked from lower edge to shoulder; Back neck sts are cast on, joining the Fronts, then Back is worked from shoulder to lower Back edge. Note: It is important to end after working Row 3 of Lace pattern for Fronts, so that Back neck sts can be worked into pattern established on Fronts; measurements to shoulder are approximate. LEFT FRONT Using larger needle, cast on 27 (31, 37, 41) sts. (WS) Purl 1 row. (RS) Begin Left Front Chart, Row 1, beg and end as indicated for your size. FINISHING At side edges, place a marker (pm) 4" up from lower edge, Fronts and Back. Edging Left Armhole: With RS facing, using smaller needle, beg at marker on left Front, pick up and knit 63 (73, 73, 83) sts between markers. (WS) Knit 1 row. (RS)Increase Row: K2, * M1, k1; repeat from * across—124 (144, 144, 164) sts. (WS) Begin St st; work even until piece measures 1/2" from pick-up row, end with RS row. Bind off all sts loosely knitwise. Right Armhole: Work as for left armhole, beginning pick-up row at marker on Back. Sew side seams, below markers; sew Armhole edging seam. Neckband and Eyelets With RS facing, using smaller needle, beginning at lower right Front, pick up and knit 139 (149, 149, 169) sts around neck edge to lower left Front. (WS) Eyelet Row: P1, * yo, p2tog, p3; repeat from * around neck edge to last 3 sts, end yo, p2tog, p1—139 (149, 149, 169) sts. (RS) Knit 1 row; do NOT turn. Ruffle (RS) Continuing across lower edge, pick up and knit 127 (143, 167, 183) sts across lower edge (Fronts and Back). Pm for beginning of round; join—266 (292, 316, 352) sts. Round 1: Purl.

Round 2: * K1, M1; repeat from * around—532 (584, 632, 704) sts. Knit even for 3 rounds. Bind off all sts purlwise. Tie: Using smaller needle, cast on 200 (225, 225, 250) sts. Bind off all sts knitwise. Insert tie through eyelets at neck edge (see photo); tie a knot at each end. Steam lightly to open up Lace. Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Try on Shrug and adjust Tie for desired fit; tie in a bow at center Front.
