Thanks to our P&F our school now has a cold room in which to store children’s lunches. The cold room is located in the store room next to the tuckshop. From next Wednesday students will able to place their lunches in a classroom basket that will be taken to the cold room before 8.45am each morning. Parents are asked to pack lunches in a labelled lunch box or reusable plastic bag. Please ensure that morning tea is packed separately. With the warm weather approaching the cold room will be a welcome addition to our school facilities. Prep students will continue to use their classroom fridges. Our Year 7 students have started organising the Mission Day stalls which will be held next Friday in the under-covered area. In recent years the stalls have raised over $2000 for the Catholic Missions and I know the students are keen to achieve a similar target this year. Families can assist by sending to school any unwanted toys, books or DVDs which can be sold on the day or baking some cakes or biscuits for the cake stall. There will be further information about the stalls in next week’s newsletter.

Please take a minute to drop in before or after school to view the children’s work.

Finally, a number of students have been asking about Joeys Idol, the two minute lip sync event we hold each year. This will be held on Wednesday 3 December. Mike

News from the APRE Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your word, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us, sinners now, And at the hour of our death. Amen

This year’s Social Justice Statement is entitled “A Crown for Australia: Striving for the best in our sporting nation.” (p5 of statement) Sport issues a challenge to people to aspire to something different and better. People who participate in sport inevitably are called to achieve, be it a faster result, a more perfect play, a stronger finish or a victory. This call to achievement helps a person learn to set goals and to work hard to realise them. The Sacramental program begins on Sunday the 19th October with the Rite of Enrolment during the 8.00am Mass. It is an expectation of the program that all families attend the sessions as well as weekend Mass. The program then continues on the 2nd, 9th and 16th of November with the Sacrament being celebrated on the 20th at 7.00pm. Congratulations to Flynn Mintern and Nicholas Winn on their debut as altar servers at weekend Mass. Thank you boys for the wonderful contribution you are making to the Parish!!!! On Monday 4G led us in a prayer celebration to focus on the work of Catholic Mission. The children pointed out the crucial work of the Jamaican Catholic Church in helping people turn away from violence and crime to seek a new future through the power of education and the spirit of Jesus Christ. It is quite confronting to hear a child’s say, “I want to be alive”, in answer to the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Our Year 7 classes are running the annual Mission Stalls on Friday 24th October during morning tea. At this time we raise money for Catholic Mission for the significant contribution they make to the lives of others. Last year we raised over $2000 and we hope to do the same again this year. Please support this by donating used toys, books, DVDs etc and by providing your child with a little spending money for the day. Thank you in anticipation of your generous support! Blessings for the week… Alanna

Thank you.
