Welcome Back! The Governors and Staff would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and welcome you back to the start of another term at Our Lady of Lourdes. We welcome Mrs Creegan to the staff – she will be joining our Pastoral Support Team and is available in the Playground each morning if you need to see her. Weather Information At this time of year forecasts of snow are inevitable. Birmingham Local; Authority ask that individual schools to decide whether or not they are closing. If we are closing we will notify all parents using the text messaging system and BRMB Radio (96.4 FM) will broadcast the news before 7.30 am on the day. Please do not telephone the school office to check. If you have changed your telephone number over Christmas please let the school office know as soon as possible. Parental Lunches 2016 We would like as many parents as possible to join us on Parental Lunch Days this year. Malachi Malachi will be running a parent group at Our Lady of Lourdes for the next 10 weeks. The group will run every Tuesday morning from 9 – 10.30 am. All Year 3 and Year 4 parents and carers are invited to join this group. The aim of the group is to support parents who are struggling to get their children to school on time or those who feel a little isolated and would like to meet other parents in a friendly and supportive group. For more information or to secure a place in this group should contact Charlie Goodwin on 07506247086 or pop into the school office and let us know and we will pass on your details.
Poetry Focus – Monday 11th January 2016 All classes will be having a special poetry session on Monday. Why not find your favourite poem and bring it in to class on Monday to share!
Computer Coding Club Mrs Lynch and Miss O’Neill will be running a Coding Club starting on Wednesday 13th January and running until half term. The club for Year 5 and there will be no charge to attend.
Mobile Telephones Pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 (Linden and Rowan) that walk home alone are allowed to bring a mobile telephone to school. This phone must be handed to their class teachers as soon as they arrive at school and it will be stored securely. The phone will be returned at home time. The telephone is an important Health and Safety measure for parents who allow their child to walk home so no other children should have them in school. Parking Outside School We would ask parents to be aware that some parking is causing an obstruction to other road users and endangering children as they try to cross the road. Please consider parking and walking to collect your child.

Asda Charity Token Collection If you shop in Asda Kings Heath you will see that Our Lady of Lourdes is collecting Green Tokens. We would like to be able to get some outdoor equipment if we win. Winning schools will receive £200. Please remember to ask for the Green Tokens no matter how much you spend.
