Newsletter 4th December 2015 Dear Parents/Carers, INSET Day Please remember the school is CLOSED on Friday 18th December - the children finish for the Christmas break on Thursday 17th December. Lots happening before then though! Christmas Performances Next week is concert week. Please make sure you have bought your tickets which cost £1 each from Mrs Bates or Mr Cuttell in the school office. The key dates and times are: Kestrels and Eagles Wednesday 9th December 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wrens and Robins Thursday 10th December 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. For the evening performances, children in Wrens and Robins class need to return to school at 5 p.m. and children in Kestrels and Eagles class need to return by 5.40 p.m. Children in Kestrels and Eagles should wear school uniform including a jumper. If your child is in Wrens or Robins class, and you do not want them to wear face paint for their performance, please let their class teacher know. Mayan Minecraft/Lego Day Lego Lovers, Mums, Dads, Grans and Gramps of Kestrels and Eagles children. Come in and join the fun on Friday 11th December. Sessions start from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Drop in any time. Christmas Lunch Christmas lunch is on Monday 14th December. All children in Wrens and Robins are entitled to a free lunch and we will order this for them. If your child is in Kestrels or Eagles and is not entitled to a free meal but would like a Christmas Lunch, please make sure you order one from Mrs Bates. We will not be able to provide Christmas lunches for children who have not ordered them in advance. Head Lice Unfortunately we are still receiving reports from parents about head lice. Please can you all check your child’s hair this weekend and treat any head lice you find. Christmas Raffle On Wednesday 16th December, the PA (Parent Association) are holding their annual raffle during the Christmas Fair. Below is a list of the prizes that are available. A special thanks is due to all of the companies for their generous donations:
- £50 cash from the PA (Parent Association) - Cheese Hamper from Ironville Post Office - Sweet Hamper from ‘The Teeny Tiny Tuck Shop’ - 2 tickets to Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock Bath - 2 tickets to a Nottingham Forest match - 3 £5 Mango cards from theTrentBarton bus company - Family ticket to Denby Pottery - Scottish Shortbread from Tesco at Alfreton - Promotion beer pack from the Shiny Brewery in Derby -2 boxes of chocolates from Thorntons - 2 family swim passes and a 7 day fitness pass from Alfreton Leisure centre During the year the PA raise funds to subsidise the cost of the school trips and to buy new equipment for the school. The more raffle tickets you can sell the more the PA will raise and the greater the benefit will be to the children. We think you will agree that there are some really good prizes to be won this year. Please help us by selling the book of tickets your child has brought home and returning the stubs to school, and also by buying tickets either before or during the Christmas Fair. Keeping children safe As you will have seen on the news recently it is very important to keep an eye on your children’s activities online in order to keep them safe. The money we raise will go to the Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish® UK and Save the Children charities.
