NEWSLETTER 6TH May 2016 Dear Parents and Guardians, EAST MERTON SCHOOLS CHESS TOURNAMENT Well Done - to the Beecholme Chess Team, who came 3rd in the East Merton Schools Chess Tournament and Congratulations to Emran Marboul who attained the highest Beecholme score. SATs WEEK FOR YEAR 6 MONDAY 9th MAY UNTIL THURSDAY 12th MAY Please make sure that children in Y6 arrive in school for breakfast by 8.15 every morning during SATs week. All children will have cereal, if they wish and toast with fruit and juice. It is really important that the children have a breakfast together, talk to their friends and have time to get over any nerves or worries. The tests will start very promptly every morning so it is important for children to be here bright and early. Good Luck to our Year 6 pupils. Enjoy the opportunity to show off how much you have learned. REQUESTS FOR ABSENCE DURING TERM TIME At this time of year we always get a lot of requests for special leave. We have to follow the government guidelines which state that any absences during term time can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances. Our attendance data is scrutinised by the Local Authority and by Ofsted. The school has a legal duty to report all absences to the Local Authority which may be obliged to impose a £60 fixed penalty notice. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
