Night Support Worker (and casual relief) We are seeking a capable, empathic person to provide care for 12 residents in two Salvation Army homes in Lyall Bay and Island Bay, Wellington. The position is for 58 hours per fortnight and involves a number of care and support tasks such as responding to the residents’ needs if they are unwell, if there is an emergency, or if residents are displaying challenging behaviour. Duties also involve data entry, record keeping, housework, and supervision of morning routines including some personal care. Applicants need: • • • • • • • • • • •
a strengths-based approach to working with adults with intellectual disabilities the ability to function effectively on night shifts (11.00pm – 7:00am/weekends 9:00am) a current first-aid certificate computer skills with a high level of accuracy good cleaning skills the ability to function well in an emergency the ability to write adequate records and reports to be available to work rostered shifts a willingness to comply with policies and procedures a willingness to undergo a police check to provide evidence of the right to work in New Zealand
