Treasure Island May 17th & 18th 2014

The NCJLA Boys Division Tournament Weekend will be held on May 17th & 18th 2014 at Treasure Island on multiple fields rain or shine but games are subject to postponement or cancellation if there is lightning present (safety first). The U15B and U13B Tournaments will be played on the 17th and 18th respectively, rounding out a fantastic weekend of lacrosse for all involved. There will be a NCJLA table between fields A and B. All teams need to check in at the table 45 minutes prior to game time. This is a mandatory check in. There was a problem last weekend with many dogs on the grass. The owners were following the letter of the law – the dogs weren’t on a “field”, per se – but unfortunately that isn’t enough for us to continue using the fields at Treasure Island. Dogs are not allowed anywhere inside the fenced-in areas which house the fields. Please stress to your families:

NO DOGS ALLOWED California Civ. Code 54.2 requires service dogs to have visibly-present, county-issued tags. If your service animal doesn’t have tags, it isn’t allowed on the grass. No exceptions! FORMAT: U15B & U13B Tournament. Teams are playing in a flighted tournament based on winning percentage. The winner moves on to next round. Losing teams will play a consolation game; so all teams are guaranteed at least two games. Games are based on the following format: 1. Timing a. U15B Two 20 Minute Halves - Running Clock b. U13B Two 18 Minute Halves - Running Clock 2. 5 minute halftime 3. One 1 minute timeout per half, per team (clock stops) 4. Clock stops for injuries. 5. Each field keeps own time (timer at the table) 6. Overtime. If required teams will have a 2 minute break followed by one 4 minute sudden victory OT period. If the game is still tied, selected players will take a one minute break and then a Brave Heart will commence.

Brave Heart Rules • Each team fields a goalie and a field player. • Officials may inspect field crosses before the tiebreaker begins; no coach-requested checks. • Teams defend the same goal they defended in the second half. • Teams must use the goalies on the field at the end of regulation. • The field players face off at center. • Goalies must be behind their restraining lines during the faceoff. • The goalies may not cross midfield. • The first team to score a goal wins. • There are no timeouts or substitutions permitted except in the case of injury (in which case the opponent may also substitute a player). • If a team commits what would normally be a timeserving penalty during the tiebreaker, play is restarted with the offending player in his defensive half of the field (for a technical foul) or in his defensive restraining area (for a personal foul) and the offended team’s field player in possession just outside the attack area. • All other standard rules apply, including counts. 7. All scores must be reported to the NCJLA Table by the winning coach immediately following the game.

NCJLA will supply: The NCJLA will have a table, two chairs and a tote bag at the field with all table items: timers, horn, score placard, score sheets and pens/pencils. Every team needs to bring: • Printed team roster that matches what’s on the NCJLA website. • Balls - Each team should bring 5 balls to be used for each game. Each team will put 4 balls on their defensive end line and give one ball to the referee. At the end of the game each team should collect their balls. • Contrasting jerseys. The “home” team will be responsible for wearing a contrasting color. • First aid kit with ice packs. • Trash bags for your team’s trash. Remember we are all guests and need to make sure the venues are clean after each game. Check-in There will be a NCJLA registration table located in the middle between field A and B. Only ONE representative, e.g. Coach or team manager from each team should go the registration table at least 45 minutes before the game. The registrar will note your team’s presence and confirm which field and at what time your team is scheduled to play its first game. Score table – One volunteer from each team must report to the score table at least 5 minutes before the scheduled game. The home team will keep score and the away team volunteer will run the clock and horn. DIRECTIONS TO FIELDS: Treasure Island is located at the midpoint of the Bay Bridge, Hwy 80 in between SF and Oakland. Once on the island you’ll pass a guard shack, continue straight and turn right on California and proceed to Avenue H. Field C & D will be the first two fields on the left, on the corner of California and Avenue H. For Fields A & B, take a left on Avenue H and go straight until you run into them. Premiere parking is available near Vendor Alley for $10, and self parking is available on the street. If you continue down Avenue H you will run into our Vendor Alley, and the NCJLA information table. Vendor alley is located between fields A and B, and has lots of fun and food for players and families. Please be extra

careful about leaving anything visible in your car. There were several break-ins last weekend. We have hired extra security for this weekend but you can’t be too cautious.
