Dear Parents,
May 13 2016
Mrs Withers After 33 years of teaching, with 15 of those years here at Kewstoke, Mrs. Withers has decided to enjoy a well deserved retirement. We have all appreciated the care, commitment and professionalism of Mrs. Withers’ work and will miss her greatly. We wish her a joyful and restful retirement in September. We are th interviewing candidates on Wednesday next week (the 18 June) to find a suitable replacement. Once we know who is filling the post I will let children and parents know about classes for next September. Spare clothes for younger children All of our spare clothes have found their way into people’s homes. If you have any clothes which may belong to school, or any clothes which your child no longer needs we would be very grateful for any donations. Free school meals Please remember to apply for free school meals, even if your child is in KS1, as we can access Pupil Premium money for your child which means we can offer subsidised trips and activities. Parking on the zig-zag lines It has been drawn to my attention that drivers are continuing to park on the zig-zags. Any stopping on the lines is illegal and we all need to be mindful of not blocking the children’s view as they cross the road outside school. One accident is one accident too many. PE Kits Please ensure a named PE kit is in school every day now that the weather is improving we will take every opportunity to do some PE. Year 6 SATs Our Year 6 have done themselves, and us, proud. They tackled the very challenging SATs with endurance and panache (and hopefully, some right answers). Results will not be known until the beginning of July. Year 2 SATs We have started the reading and maths SATs this week. Children are working in small groups at their pace as we are trying to make them as stress free as possible. Interestingly most of the children are keen to keep going and get them done. Yet another example of the brilliant attitude to learning that our children have. Junior parkrun nd Junior parkrun is coming to Weston-super-Mare as from Sunday 22 May. It will be taking place at Walford Ave (behind the back of Priory School) at 9am every Sunday. To register parents need to visit: www.parkrun.org.uk. Everything else you need to know about this event can be found at: www.parkrun.org.uk/westonsupermarejuniors Any questions please email:
[email protected] or call 01934 627014. th If your child also wants to run the ‘test’ parkrun on Sunday 15 May please get in touch. Sarah Harding
