Official Newsletter - Fall 2015 Mandatory Pregame Huddle Meet the field directors 15 minutes prior to the first game. Rules will be discussed and clarification will be given if needed. This quick meeting will help all involved. We have many new officials this season, let's help each other out and make this the best season yet!! Officials Needed! We still need a few extra
Make sure you know the Rules!! We cannot stress this enough! When you are on top of
officials in specific
your game and know the rules, a coach will respect your
locations. If you know a few
calls. This is especially true when you can explain
good men/women that would be interested please have them call the office and ask for Suzanne.

thoroughly what you called and why.
Print and Review the NFF Rule Book! Tip of the Week: Have fun and Teach We are a recreational league. We are also teaching the game of football and good sportsmanship. When officiating the game you are almost like another coach on the field, especially with the Lombardi division. Have fun with the kids. Explain your calls to the kids and tell them what they did wrong. Also have them hold up the flag after they pull it and hand it back to the player the pulled it from. Always have the them shake hands after the game. We want these young men and women to learn to respect each other.
New Rule - 4th Down Option On the first half of the field ONLY, a team has a fourth down decision to make. A team may either choose to "GO FOR IT" or to declare a "TURNOVER". If a team decides to 'GO FOR IT', they will have one play to cross midfield. If successful with this attempt, a first down will be awarded. If not, the opposing team will take possession of the ball at the point of the failed conversion. If a "TURNOVER" is decided this will effectively end the drive, resulting in a change of possession. The ball will be placed at either the 5 yard line (on a two way field) or 40 yard line (on a one way field) - it depends on the field set up at your location.
New Rule - Mercy Precaution A Mercy is declared once a 35 point differential has been obtained. The game is then officially declared over. To discourge this we have created a new rule. At any point during the game, if there is a 28 point differential, the winning team will forfeit a defensive player. The winning team will only play with 4 players on defense until the point differential is lowered below the 28 point or a mercy has been declared. the losing team may add a 6th player to their defense until the point differential is lowered below the 28 points or a mercy has been declared. This rule has already been put into place this season and was a success.
