OMGBA Board Meeting Minutes March 13, 2017 Meeting Called to Order: 7:00 p.m.

Guests: Ben Zimmerman and Dan Kaiser Board Member Changes (new to board, new positions, or leaving board) Ben Zimmerman was unanimously voted onto the Board. Information Director’s Report (Karole Hanson) A motion was made to approve the February minutes. Motion Approved Treasurer’s Report (Gary LaPalme) Financials are provided to the Executive Board each month electronically. If you have specific questions or need more information about the financials, feel free to contact any of the Executive Board members. Executive Committee Report (Jim Davison) Officer elections will take place at the April Board meeting. Any Board Member who is interested in nominating either themselves or another Board Member for an officer position should contact Jim Davison. Old Business PCA Training - OMGBA desires to pursue a partnership with PCA. Board members who are interested in being a part of the effort should contact Jim Davison or Victor Thompson. The committee will be tasked with developing a long term program and investment goals for OMGBA. Department Reports MGCG Utilization Committee (Jim Davison) The utilization committee is considering purchasing a headset or microphone for use at MGCG. The mic would be useful during camps and clinics tryouts etc. The committee will review options and consider whether it will be necessary to hire an electrician to establish “zones” for the speakers. Currently all of the speakers are wired on the same circuit. President’s Day Tournament (Dan Mayer & Wade Reitmeier) The tournament went well however there are several areas where improvements are necessary. Advertising the tournament in the MYAS directory should help attract a wider variety of teams. There weren’t a sufficient amount of teams to

provide leveled competition for the teams that did participate. Another suggestion is to provide free admission to the parents who are volunteering. Junior High League (Mark Beyer) The all-star tournament went smoothly. The event was held entirely in the MGCG and there weren’t any other events or practices being held at the same time. In contrast, the 5th/6th grade all-star event was held in gyms DE and it was difficult to fit all of the spectators. There was a discussion of perhaps moving the 5th/6th grade event to pair it with Jr High and hold both events the same night at MGCG. Sr High League Commissioner (Ben Schwanz) The League continues to have issues with the handling of disciplinary actions and team formation among the member Associations within the NWSBL. There were numerous instances of physical altercations between players and even between parents. The players want to compete against other communities but the League itself has been plagued with difficulties. The Board will review its participation within the League and will consider the feasibility and impact of ending its affiliation with the League. If OMGBA terminates its participation in the NWSBL, the Sr High program would continue as a part of OMGBA with rules and guidelines established by the Board. Teams from surrounding areas could be allowed to participate in the program per the rules established by OMGBA. Ben will solicit feedback from coaches, parents, and other board members. Meeting adjourned: 8:45 pm. Next Board Meeting: Monday, April 10, 2017 at MGCC
