The International Cricket Council wishes to appoint an

Operations Manager – Umpires & Referees The International Cricket Council (“ICC”) is the global governing body for the sport, which administers all aspects of international cricket. We are currently looking for an Operations Manager - Umpires & Referees for the Cricket Operations department, based in our headquarters in Dubai. The role will report to the Senior Manager - Umpires & Referees and will be responsible for developing and executing operational plans, relating to all aspects of officiating in international cricket, managing the technological requirements of the department and managing certain panels of Match Officials. Principal Accountabilities Responsibilities of the Operations Manager - Umpires & Referees include but are not limited to the following: Umpires and Referees:  Preparing the appointment schedule of umpires and referees to international matches;  Administering the selection process for the appointment of umpires to the Development panel and referees to the International Panel, and for appointment to ICC Development Events and all Women’s Cricket;  Managing the assessment & feedback process on the performances of the ICC Panel of Umpires and Referees;  Managing the assessment and feedback process of the performances of the TV Umpires;  Managing the development & implementation of umpires & referees training and development programs; and  Dealing with internal & external umpiring stakeholders. Technology:  Assisting and advising the Senior Manager - Umpires & Referees in relation to all aspects of the use of technology in the umpire decision making process, including the conducting of any trials for the use of such technology;  Developing, implementing and maintaining an appropriate online match management system, in conjunction with the Data Information Manager;  Developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate umpire training resources; and  Managing the relationships with, and accrediting all Technology Providers. General:  Compiling reports for the Senior Manager - Umpires & Referees on performances of umpires and referees in international cricket;  Preparing and managing all Cricket Department Event budgets, in consultation with the Umpires & Referees, Cricket Ops, Administration and Medical and Anti-Doping Managers; and  Liaising across all other ICC departments on aspects relating to officiating in international cricket.

Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Experience  

A tertiary degree in a relevant area; A minimum 5 years of operational experience – preferably in a sporting organisation;



Well-developed analytical, administrative and computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;



Strong adherence to organisational and operational procedures;



Experience in working with people from different cultural backgrounds and a capacity to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders through strong interpersonal and communication skills;



An understanding and empathy of the unique requirements of match officials in international sport;



Demonstrated strong work ethic;



Meticulous and accurate with a strong eye for detail;



Demonstrated multitasking, self-management and organisational abilities;



Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment;



Ability to deal with difficult situations;



Motivated and enthusiastic attitude;



Good team player with a flexible approach; and



A detailed understanding of the game of cricket is essential.

Conditions of employment 

The position is based in Dubai and will report to the Senior Manager - Umpires & Referees;



The role will involve a minimum amount of international travel;



The selected candidate will be required to provide two recent work references; and



Compensation offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
