Obituary Henrietta Gilbert was born April 15, 1940 to the late Sam and Adline Dawson Hayes in Marvel, Alabama. The family later relocated to Aldrich, Alabama. She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Green Chapel Baptist Church. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Jimmie Gilbert; to this union five children were born. Later she became a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Montevallo, Alabama. She later moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she joined The House of Change Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Benjamin J. Clark, Sr. She was a dedicated and faithful member to her church as the leadership and the church underwent a transition period. Reverend John R. Lacy was called as the next pastor and the ministry became known as Gilead Christian Church. She served faithfully at Gilead as a Deaconess, member of the Tuesday Night Church School and the Chair of the Culinary Ministry. Mother Gilbert as she was affectionately known served with grace and gladness. She established a guidelines for culinary staff and would later train others as they came on board. A mother’s love is second to none and Mother Gilbert enjoyed life to the fullest. Her attendance at Gilead was solid as she endured some health challenges. Mother Gilbert would often show up out of the blue and surprise the members with her warm smile and ever so loving hugs. She was a fighter, a brave soldier, who did not let her health define who she was. When she was no longer physically able to attend Gilead, the church came to her. Wonderful memories of her will be cherished by her husband Jimmie; the children: Michael Lee Gilbert (Renee), Katrina Lorraine Gilbert, Rory Keneke Gilbert (Timolyn), Sondi Nanett Gilbert, Melissa Von Gilbert, and David Lester Gilbert (adopted son); and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; two sisters: Samantha Kittles (K.C.) of Riverdale, Georgia and Gwendolyn Tompkins, of Brooklyn, New York)
