Our Impacts Powers Aggreko Reporting Aggreko respond to UK mandatory carbon reporting with audit-ready environmental outputs from Our Impacts Introduction Aggreko is a global leader in temporary power generation, providing customers with efficient and cost effective industrial generators and power distribution, including a wide range of specialised generators, transformers and load banks. Aggreko employs over 5,700 people operating from 194 locations. In 2012 they served customers in about 100 countries, and had revenues of approximately GBP 1.6bn. Challenge Aggreko had been looking to improve on previous attempts to quantify and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and following the announcement of the UK’s Mandatory Carbon Reporting (MCR) scheme in June 2012 decided to get extenal support. While Aggreko has systems in place for monitoring business critical information, monitoring and reporting GHG emissions was not previously core to Aggreko’s corporate communications so this aspect needed to be strengthened. Ahead of the requirement to report GHG emissions in Directors’ Reports, Aggreko wished to implement a comprehensive and auditable GHG monitoring system for its global operations, including its fleet of generators and chilling equipment.

Solution Ecometrica worked closely with Aggreko’s communications and business intelligence teams to implement a global environmental accounting system based on the Our Impacts sustainability management platform. The software takes data from Aggreko’s existing inhouse business intelligence system and automatically calculates and reports emissions for its global fleet of over 15,000 generators, chillers and other mobile equipment. In addition Aggreko collected data for all global operations spanning over 220 sites including scope one, two and three emission sources. In line with best practice Aggreko are also able to quantify and report GHG emissions from upstream activities, such as fuel supply chains and electricity related transmission and distribution losses. Results “Ecometrica’s combination of expert analysts, intuitive software and integration with our internal systems allowed us to implement a global environmental accounting platform in a relatively straightforward manner. We completed two years’ worth of global GHG accounts within 6 months and are reporting GHG emissions in our annual report one year ahead of our mandatory obligations.” - Simon Lyons, Director of Marketing & Communications, Aggreko Plc
• Integrate Our Impacts with existing Aggreko systems for data collection • Auto-calculate and report all emissions with no manual effort • Quantify upstream activity
• MCR compliant one year earlier than required • Multi-language, audit-ready outputs for 2 years of data • Able to quantify emission reductions to Aggreko fleet investment programme
