Politics Having been interested in politics since University, but never having previously been a member of a political party I joined the Pirate party in early 2014. Attracted by the focus on Evidence Based Policy, Civil Liberties and grassroots democracy I stood as a candidate for the party in the local elections in May 2014 and am standing in Vauxhall this year.

Election Message As the Pirate Party candidate for Vauxhall, I am standing for a politics fit for digital age. The Pirate Party is focused on supporting digital rights, personal freedoms, evidence-based policy, and holding government to account. My priorities in this election for Vauxhall are: - Ending the warrantless, blanket mass surveillance revealed by Snowden and others. I don’t believe that this intrusion on our civil liberties is justified, nor keeps us safe – we need to remove it and return people to being Citizens, not Suspects. - Genuinely affordable housing for all. For those looking to buy, this means scrapping Help to Buy and QE which just push up house prices. It means Land Value Tax so that developers are incentivised to build. It means listening to, and focusing on, local communities not developers. - Segregated, space for cycling - We would spend £20/person on new cycling infrastructure using a focused design handbook based on Dutch principles. This also saves money in the long-term – more cycling means less air pollution, less obesity, better mental health and so less demand on the NHS. - Evidence based policy at the heart of Government decision-making. We would open up access to all Government data and ensure that any data which can be obtained through a Freedom of Information request is publically put online in a suitable format without needing to be requested. These days, if you stand up for equal access to medicines or for a free Internet you get called a pirate. We believe that being a pirate means you are independent-minded and able to think critically. That's why we are saying - Think Different? Then Vote Different. Vote Pirate.
