Conclusions
To ensure continued facility maintenance we must resolve the fish passage violation.
Surveys of the upper Pole Creek watershed (completed 2011) confirmed suitable conditions for fish rearing (step 1).
This study identified fish passage solutions (step 2).
The preferred alternative is a 20-foot-wide, seminatural rocky channel fishway west of the enlarged concrete flood control channel.
A bike path/service road would lie between the two channels.
Step 3 is acquiring grant funding for and completing final design of the preferred alternative.
Ultimately we need to find ways to meet the difficult challenge of funding the $25M project.
