POSITION: Youth Ministry Intern PURPOSE: To provide the opportunity for young adult’s to cultivate their leadership skills through the coordinating and implementation of the Summer Recreation ministry and the United Methodist Youth program at College Hill United Methodist Church.

SALARY:

$10 per hour

HOURS:

8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 10:00-11:30 a.m. 2:30-4:00 p.m.

Monday – Thursday (includes 1 hour for lunch) Sunday morning Youth group or whatever time is assigned for activities.

Hours may vary depending on job requirements and specific ministry schedules.

YOUTH MINISTRY INTERN JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary responsibility is to help plan and coordinate the weekly youth ministry and summer rec. activities. Commitment is 25-30 Hours per week. Summer Recreation Program  For children 4 yrs – 5th grade (finished) of the College Hill Neighborhood and members of College Hill UMC.  Operates Monday - Wednesday 9:00-12:00 (includes a snack) Thursday 9:00-12:00 (field trip and sack lunch)  Provides low cost, safe care, socialization and recreation opportunities for children and youth of the College Hill Community. Summer Recreation Program Responsibilities Planning weekly themes and suggested activities (resources are available in the Youth Ministries office) Planning snacks Planning and carrying out field trips Collection of weekly fees Weekly newsletters to parents Dispersing and collecting forms (health, field trip, enrollment) Daily supervision of youth who work directly with the children Conducting weekly staff meetings with youth workers Youth Ministry responsibilities Help plan and implement Sunday school lessons and youth group activities. Cleaning, set up and other assigned tasks in the youth ministry area. Sunday morning -- Teach or assist in a youth Sunday school class Youth Group – Help lead and assist during youth group activities. HIRING PROCESS: Applications are due to the church office by April 9, 2017. Program Coordinator/Director will make selections/hiring based on the qualifications of the applicant and needs of the programs. The Summer Intern must provide his/her own housing, transportation and health insurance. Time off will be negotiated.
