What is Mobility Management? “The practice of using all available resources (and developing new ones) to improve mobility, increase service efficiencies, and reduce overall costs.”

Why is it so important to Kansas? • Encourages aging in place • Access to transit and paratransit services • Public and private investments in transit • Supports local economies • Innovative improvements

Funding First year 100% state funds All subsequent years 80% state funds 20% local cash match

Ongoing Challenges • We are a car-centric state (geo/topography) • Benefits of the “public” part of public transportation sometimes difficult to convey to elected officials/agency administrators • What works in one CTD may flop in another • Providers want a MM in their CTD, but don’t think they can raise the local match for future years
