Frayed Edge Appliqué Supply List © Shannon Shirley at Once in a Rabbit Moon www.onceinarabbitmoon.com [email protected]

In this class we will cover basic piecing techniques and quick raw edge appliqué. This is a really fun and easy quilt to make. Twelve fat quarters makes a crib size quilt that you can add borders to or not. You could also choose to make yours larger. If you choose to make more than 12 blocks adjust the fabric requirements as needed. Supplies: 12 fat quarters or 12 pieces 12'' x 22" (this is ⅓ yard cut in half) of assorted fabrics. ½ yard for 4”border - if you are making a baby quilt 1/2 yard for binding - if you are making a baby size quilt 1 ½ yards for backing - if you are making a baby size quilt Batting – approx. 54” x 44” - if you are making it baby size (I use Warn-nWhite)

Thread - I use 50-wt cotton The thread shows so pick a color that works with your group of fabric Pencil Small detail fabric scissors Paper scissors Straight pins and safety pins Rotary cutter, mat and ruler Sewing machine, plug, feet, manual, extra needles etc.

Each block (one full circle) measures approximately 10" square For each block you need: one 11" square and one 9" circle

Example at right: The quilt shown is 6 blocks wide by 8 blocks long which equals 48 blocks. So to make this quilt you would need 48 -11" squares and 48 -9" circles. You can choose to use 48 different fabrics or you can choose to use only 24 fabrics. If you choose 24 fabrics you will need ⅓ yard of each. (2 squares and 2 circles) After piecing the blocks you can choose what size border you wish to add and calculate fabric requirements at that time.
