Finished size: 9” wide x 5” tall x 1½” tall Date: 9/30/2017 Time: 10am – 4pm Book: – Handmade with Style by Anna Graham – Noodlehead Materials Needed: (listed on page 108 of the book as well as below) ¼ yard quilting cotton for the exterior 1/3 yard quilting cotton for the lining (5) 5” x 6” (or larger) of scraps of quilting cotton for exterior patchwork pocket ½ yard 20” wide fusible woven interfacing (Pellon SF 101) 8” zipper or longer 7” zipper or longer 14 mm lightweight magnetic snap Freezer paper Supplies Needed for Day of Class: • Sewing machine with appropriate thread, walking foot, zipper foot, • Pins, rotary cutter, rulers, small mat • Pencil, chalk, water soluble pen or thin marker to mark with • Add-a-quarter ruler and index card (for paperless paper piecing) (optional) • ¼” steam-a-seam 2 is helpful when putting in zippers (optional)

Review the book for any additional supplies and tools HOMEWORK….It is recommended to complete this before the day of the class to help ensure you finish the rainbow clutch the day of the class.

Directions for the Rainbow Clutch are on page 108….. You will be tracing and cutting out all the pieces needed to make the clutch. Read through the directions in the second column to familiarize yourself with the information. Start at the top of the second column of pg. 108--Cutting. Take out the pattern pieces from the book and trace all pattern pieces (Main, front pocket, paper piecing and the flap) onto freezer paper. Transfer all the markings from the pattern pieces as given.

You will be learning a method of paperless paper piecing method. Your template (paper piecing) is on the freezer paper. You will also be learning how to put in zippers and a magnetic snap. Follow the remaining cutting directions as written. Cut the exterior, the lining and the interfacing. In the 3rd column, fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of the exterior main panels and both tab (flap) pieces. We will start with the section Make Flap on the day of the class.
