Reaching out to Children and Families Crossing Texas Borders Providing Bibles to for Unaccompanied Children in San Antonio Pastor, Dan Trevino, Associate Pastor at Baptist Temple Church, San Antonio, leads four worship services at Lackland Air Force Base on Sunday mornings for the unaccompanied children living in that temporary shelter. Around 1,000 children per week attend the services. Pastor Dan began these services on Palm Sunday, April 13. Since then, he has seen many young Central American children come to know the Lord. Pastor Dan said, “These children have been placed in a strange place, since coming to the U.S. They are fearful and non-trusting. Attending a Spanish language worship service is something that is familiar to them. They encourage their friends to attend and become saved. They like studying the Bible and keeping it on their beds brings them comfort.” Pastor Dan’s main message to the children is found in Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” This is a power message to these children who have experienced fearful situations. BIBLES ARE NEEDED: Pastor Dan needs Spanish Language Bibles in the New International Version. They need contain both the Old and New Testament. Paperback would be best as they are lighter.
