QUEENS’ SCHOOL Headteacher: Jonathan Morrell BA, MA, PGCE, NPQH
20 March 2017 Dear Parents /Carers On Friday 24th March staff and students at Queens’ will be participating in a non-uniform day to raise money for Red Nose Day. Students are asked to donate £1 each in order to wear appropriate casual clothes for the day instead of school uniform. We would encourage students to wear red clothes/accessories and a red nose if they have one but this is not compulsory! What is Red Nose Day? Red Nose Day is a fundraising event run by Comic Relief that takes places every two years Comic Relief is a UK charity, which aims to create a just world, free from poverty Last Red Nose Day the UK public raised an astonishing £99.4 million to help people living incredibly tough lives both here in the UK and Africa We’re taking part in Red Nose Day 2017 because students gain understanding and empathy for others in the world in a way that brings the whole school community together. The money we raise will help people living really tough lives in the UK and across Africa. For example, £2.50 could buy a mosquito net to protect a family in Africa. In the UK, £5 could pay for an isolated elderly person with dementia to have dinner at their local support group. On their behalf, thank you. We hope that this event will raise a significant amount of money so please encourage your child to support the day. Their money will be collected during Form Periods between now and Friday so please ensure that your child has an extra £1 with them if they wish to participate. If your child does not wish to participate then they may wear full school uniform as usual. Yours sincerely
Mrs Kerry Clarke Deputy Headteacher
